Kate Andrews is a writer, designer and communications consultant.
She is a BA First Class Honors awarded Graphic Designer, 2005 recipient of a Merit Award from the International Society of Typographic Designers, and a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts.
On themes related to design’s social impact, Kate Andrews has contributed to many design platforms including DesignObserver.com, Eye Magazine, Goodlifer.com, SocialDesignSite.com and Osocio.org, and has a regular column on Notes on Design, Inhabitat.com and UNESCO’s Design21sdn.com. She has lectured to design students at Dundee University (2009), Glasgow School of Art and Oslo’s Kunsthøgskolen, National Academy of the Arts, and for RewireLondon and Ignite Futures.
As a Graphic and Editorial Designer Kate has worked for The Sunday Times Magazine, A Very Good Company, A Good Week, Synectics Innovation Consultancy, Thriving.org (Tessy Britton), Making Service Sense, MyPolice, Abrahams , and brand consultant Claire Lowson.
As a consultant, strategist and design facilitator she has supported a number of projects and organisations including; Visual Editions, Mencap, Thinkpublic, Colalife, The Affluenza Exhibition (Hege Saebjornsen), The Bigger Picture Festival of Interdependence (New Economics Foundation), Cineforum on Climate Change: Designing Ecotopia (Fair Knowledge), SoundExchange, Kept.it (More Associates), Project H Design: London, Mindapples, Receptional Ltd and Involve UK.
Since 2008, Kate has continually freelanced for thomas.matthews and Kingston University as Digital Communications Strategist for their sustainability hub Greengaged.
In 2010, Kate will be writing in a series of forthcoming books on the future of design including; Just Design: Socially Conscious Design for Critical Causes (2011) by Christopher Simmons, This is Service Design Thinking (2010) by Marc Stickdorn, and Frida Jeppsson’s In Case of Design? Inject Critical Thinking (2010) featuring texts by Max Bruinsma, Steven Heller and Rick Poynor.
Kate is an Associate of A Very Good Company, Creative Coop and a jury member of the international social communications project Good 50×70 .
